Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is just a few miles from the Strip — one of the most convenient airports of any major city. Race week is one of its busiest periods, so plan ahead.

Terminals

LAS has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Check which your airline uses; they're not connected airside, though shuttles run between them.

Getting to the Strip

  • Rideshare: Follow signs to the rideshare pickup area in the parking garage. Expect queues at peak times.
  • Taxi: Taxi lines move quickly; fares to the Strip are usually modest. Ask the driver to avoid the freeway if it's not needed ("long-hauling").
  • Shuttles and limos: Shared shuttles serve most hotels.
  • Bus: RTC routes connect the airport with the Strip.

Renting a car

Rental companies operate from a consolidated Rent-A-Car Center a short shuttle ride from both terminals. A car is worth it if you plan day trips to Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or the national parks, but parking at Strip resorts is often charged per day, and driving near the circuit on track nights is slow.

Arriving during race week

  • Flights on Wednesday and Thursday before the race are the busiest. Allow extra time for bags and the rideshare queue.
  • Check your hotel's rideshare and taxi drop-off point before you land — some entrances change during race week because of the closures.
  • If you're staying near a Monorail station, you can drop bags and avoid the Strip traffic for the rest of the trip.

Leaving after the race

The race finishes late on Saturday night. Avoid booking an early Sunday flight unless you're happy with little sleep. Security lines can be long the morning after; allow extra time.
