Stay smart

Free things to do

See our list of free things to do in Las Vegas, from the Fountains of Bellagio to the Fremont Street Experience.

Tickets

Thursday practice tickets are the cheapest way to see the cars. Prices on the resale market sometimes fall in the final weeks.

Eat for less

Food halls such as Famous Foods Street Eats at Resorts World Las Vegas and Eataly at Park MGM are cheaper than sit-down restaurants. Off-Strip neighbourhoods like Chinatown on Spring Mountain Road have great-value food.

Getting around

A multi-day Monorail pass can be cheaper than repeated rideshares during surge pricing. The Deuce bus is the cheapest way between the Strip and Downtown.

Shows for less

Many shows offer cheaper seats on weeknights or early performances. Smaller productions like Piff the Magic Dragon, Mat Franco and V – The Ultimate Variety Show cost less than the big Cirque spectaculars and are still excellent.

Watch the race for free (or nearly)

If you don't have a ticket, sports books and bars across the city screen every session. Downtown's Circa Resort & Casino has one of the world's largest sportsbooks. Remember that much of the Strip is screened off on track nights, so don't count on seeing cars for free from the sidewalk.

Day trips on a budget

Renting a car for a day and splitting it with friends is usually cheaper than a bus tour. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Valley of Fire State Park and Seven Magic Mountains are all within an hour and cost little or nothing beyond fuel and park fees.
