Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest state park, known for its fiery red Aztec sandstone, ancient petroglyphs and dramatic formations like Elephant Rock and the Fire Wave.

Highlights

  • Fire Wave hike
  • Atlatl Rock petroglyphs
  • Elephant Rock and Beehives
  • Scenic White Domes road

About this area

Within an hour of the Strip you can hike red-rock canyons, stand on top of Hoover Dam or kayak on Lake Mead. November is one of the best months for the desert.

Fitting it into race week

Track sessions run in the evening, so daytime is free for sightseeing. Allow extra travel time near the Strip on track nights because of road closures.

Tips

  • Bring plenty of water.
  • November temperatures are pleasant for hiking.
