The Las Vegas Grand Prix uses public roads, including the Strip. Closures build through race week and are heaviest on track nights. A ten-minute trip can take an hour if you don't plan ahead. Here's how to keep moving.
1. Use the Las Vegas Monorail
The Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip with stations at MGM Grand, Horseshoe/Paris, Flamingo/Caesars Palace, Harrah's/The LINQ, the Las Vegas Convention Center, Westgate and SAHARA. It runs above traffic, making it the most reliable way to move north–south during race week. Hotels near a station — MGM Grand, Horseshoe Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, The LINQ Hotel + Experience, Harrah's Las Vegas, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and SAHARA Las Vegas — are especially convenient.
2. Rideshare and taxis
- Pickup zones at resorts move during race week; follow signs and app instructions.
- Expect surge pricing after sessions. Walking a few blocks away from the circuit before ordering often helps.
- Taxis queue at hotel taxi stands and can be faster than rideshare at peak times.
3. Walking
Distances on the Strip are longer than they look — walking from Bellagio to Wynn Las Vegas is around 30 minutes. Pedestrian bridges and casino walkways become crowded on race nights, and some crossings are closed or redirected near the track.
4. The Deuce bus
The RTC's Deuce runs 24 hours along the Strip and to Downtown. It's cheap but can be slow during closures.
5. Driving
If you rent a car, use I-15 and parallel roads such as Paradise Road and Frank Sinatra Drive. Resort parking fees vary. Check closure maps before heading out.
Tips
- Check the official road-closure map on the race website and the Clark County website each day.
- Download your ticket and zone map in advance.
- Agree a meeting point with your group in case phones die.
