Where to stay

Center Strip

The Center Strip runs roughly from Park MGM and the Cosmopolitan north to the Venetian and Treasure Island. It's the Las Vegas of postcards — the Bellagio fountains, Caesars Palace, the Eiffel Tower, the High Roller and Sphere are all within a long walk of each other. This is where the circuit runs. Las Vegas Boulevard between Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue becomes part of the track, and Koval Lane and Harmon Avenue to the east carry the rest of the lap. Staying here puts you closest to the cars, but also inside the closures: expect security checks, re-routed walkways and long rideshare waits on track nights.

North Strip

The North Strip stretches from Wynn and Encore past Resorts World and Fontainebleau to SAHARA and The STRAT. It mixes some of the newest luxury resorts with the best-value classics, and it's next to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Most North Strip hotels sit just outside the circuit, so you avoid the worst closures while staying within a short ride of the action. Wynn and Encore are closest to the Sands Avenue section near Sphere.

South Strip

The South Strip runs from MGM Grand and New York-New York down to Mandalay Bay, with Excalibur and Luxor in between. It's home to some of the biggest resorts in the world, T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium. The South Strip is outside the circuit, which makes it calmer on track nights. MGM Grand's Monorail station is the easiest way north to the circuit area, and free trams link Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

Downtown

Downtown Las Vegas is the city's original casino district, centred on the Fremont Street Experience. It has a more relaxed, old-school feel, lower prices and a growing food and bar scene in the surrounding streets and the Arts District. Downtown is about 15–20 minutes from the circuit by car and completely outside the closures, which makes it one of the best-value bases for race week.

Off-Strip

Off-Strip resorts sit a few minutes west or east of Las Vegas Boulevard, or out in Summerlin and the southwest valley. They offer more space, lower prices and easier parking, and several are close to Red Rock Canyon. Off-Strip hotels avoid the closures entirely. Rideshare to the circuit area takes 10–25 minutes depending on where you are; allow longer on race nights.
