People pack for "Vegas" and forget it's November in the desert. Days are usually pleasant and sunny, around 18–21 °C (mid-60s to around 70 °F), but nights cool quickly. During late sessions temperatures can drop to around 5–10 °C (low 40s to 50 °F), especially in open grandstands.

Packing checklist

  • A warm jacket, hat and gloves for the grandstands
  • Comfortable walking shoes — you'll walk miles
  • Ear protection, essential for children
  • A power bank and charging cable
  • Photo ID (you'll need it for casinos and bars)
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen for daytime trips
  • A small, venue-compliant bag (check the official bag policy)

Day versus night

The contrast between afternoon and midnight catches people out. You can sightsee in a T-shirt at 2 pm and need a coat by the time qualifying starts. The desert air is dry, so heat escapes quickly after sunset, and grandstands are exposed to wind funnelling between the resort towers. Dress in layers you can add as the evening goes on: a T-shirt, a warm mid-layer and a windproof jacket.

Rain and wind

November is one of the driest months of the year in Las Vegas, and rain is rare. Wind is the bigger factor: gusty days can kick up dust on day trips and make open grandstands feel several degrees colder.

Pools in November

Many resort pools reduce their hours or close sections in late autumn, and some day clubs finish their season in October. If a pool matters to you, check before booking — heated pools at resorts such as Circa Resort & Casino and Mandalay Bay are the best bets.

Day trips in November

November is one of the best months for the desert: Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Valley of Fire State Park and Death Valley National Park are comfortable for hiking. Higher-altitude spots such as Bryce Canyon National Park and Mount Charleston (Spring Mountains) can be cold or snowy.
